Rain Water Tanks

Clean water is very scarce where we work in the Central Dodoma Region of Tanzania. Many Tanzanians have no option but to use surface water which is heavily contaminated with bacteria, human waste and even shared with animals. This leads to diseases affecting many of the people.

Many years ago kids4school embarked on a water programme to build rainwater storage tanks at the schools which provide clean, safe drinking water.

Many donors and church groups have participated in this programme and over twenty have been built and many more ready to be built. The number is increasing all the time and we are so grateful for the generosity of our faithful supporters.

The more tanks we can build the more rain water can be collected and this in turn ensures hundreds of children now have access to safe drinking water.

Carrickfergus Congregational – Lunch Time Group

Carrickfergus Congregational Church have been long time supporters of the kids4school ministry. As a group they meet on a regular basis to pray, worship and share lunch together. At the lunch time they collect money to sponsor their Tanzanian children and much much more.

The money they have raised over the years has been fantastic. The generosity of supporters like those at the lunchtime group never ceases to amaze and we sincerely thanks them for partnering with kid4school in this ministry.

KILLYLEAGH COMMUNITY SHOP does it again

We would like to say a massive thank you to KILLYLEAGH COMMUNITY SHOP in Ardmillan, Comber. This shop is staffed and managed entirely by volunteers and distributes its profits to many charities, including kids4school. We received another £750 from this generous organisation and we will ensure this is used to benefit the children in Tanzania.

Sponsor Cycle – George & Stephen

kids4school would like to say a very big thank you to George & Stephen pictured in the photo. After hearing about the work of kids4school in Churchtown Presbyterian last year these two gentlemen were inspired to raise money for kids4school. So, in September last year George & Stephen set off on a 123 mile bike ride around the North Coast area….wow, 123 miles!!!

George & Stephen raised a whooping £1741.61 from all their hard work and this money was put towards equipment needed for our Kindergarten in the kids4school Academy.

Deaf School – New children registered at a ‘deaf school’

Today we registered a number of children onto the K4S program from the deaf primary school in Dodoma (Dodoma Viziwi Shule ya Msingi). I had my eyes opened here today and am sad to say that the statistics regarding the availability of appropriate education for children with hearing impairments in Tanzania are simply staggering, with less than 0.5% receiving education in specialised schools/units. The remainder (if even attending school) will be included in main stream classes where there are no resources or teacher training available, and learning is virtually non-existent. In many instances the child will not be diagnosed with a hearing impairment and simply labelled as stupid. However, today was graduation day for the standard 7 students in this school who ALL passed their national exams and will therefore be given the opportunity to progress to secondary school. Praise the Lord!
